Richmond Fall Restaurant Week - Fall 2019

SHARE ARTICLE

Richmond Restaurant Week is right around the corner! And in my opinion, it’s the most wonderful time of the year - twice a year! Richmond Restaurant Week began in 2001, an idea cooked up by Aline Reitzer, co-owner of Acacia, and every year, this delicious event raises more that $140,000 for the Feed More organization, which helps to supply the Central Virginia Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and the Community Kitchen.

Over thirty restaurants will be participating next week for the fall - many of which participated earlier this year in the spring - but there are a few newcomers! Below, you’ll find some mainstays, some newcomers, and no matter what, delicious deals that make your stomach happy, and help to feed those in need!

Just keep in mind - all of these meals are three-course experiences, and are at the fixed price of $29.19 per person - a complete steel for a three-course meal!

Bacchus

As if you needed an excuse to visit one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, Bacchus will be participating again for the Fall. Highlights from their special menu next week include steamed mussels with white wine or marinara, smoked duck breast with saba and arugula, seared salmon and shrimp with lobster cream, skewered swordfish with fall vegetables, and a choice of mixed berries, chocolate peanut butter pie, or apple crisp for dessert.

Dutch and Company

New this year, Dutch and Company is a seasonal-inspired restaurant located in Church Hill. For the first course, I cannot recommend the “perfect egg” - Rye crusted, with cured salmon, cumin yogurt, and an array of veggies and spices. Next, for the main course, the flank steak with Au Poivre Sauce is mouth-watering, and their stroopwaffel is the perfect end to your night!

Nota Bene

Another newcomer, Nota Bene is another great Italian eatery, located on east Main. You can’t go wrong with the Sicilian Eggplant to start with, completed by calabrian chile, lemon, mint, and toasted pine nut. For your main course, while everything is delicious, my recommendation is the Crispy Chicken Thigh - topped with root vegetable caponata, mustard greens, and jus. For your dessert, the ultimate refreshing treat is the sorbet sampler!

Supper

An absolute culinary legend amongst our foode city, Supper will be continuing its participation in restaurant week this fall. For your starter, you can’t go wrong with the fried green tomatoes, topped with pimento cheese and bacon. For your main course, the stuffed Portobellas are no joke - loaded with sautéed spinach, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, red onions, tomatoes, and feta cheese finished with a balsamic reduction, you’re guaranteed to feel satisfied, full, and healthy! For dessert, try the Hot Souther Mess!
