Charlotte Christmas Village
Get ready for the smell of roasted nuts and hot chocolate to consume Uptown, because the Charlotte Christmas Village is returning to Romare Bearden Park this holiday season. The European-style market will host local vendors serving traditional Austrian strudels, Bratwursts, non-alcoholic Glühwein and other specialty foods. From Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve the village will be open for shopping, strolling and enjoying the holiday season in Charlotte.
Kick off the holiday season with a timeless performance of the Charlotte Ballet’s, The Nutcracker. The story of Clara and her magical, Nutcracker Prince comes to life as the dancers take the stage with beautiful costumes and the nostalgic score performed live by the Charlotte Symphony. As you join Clara on her journey through the breathtaking snow and to into the Land of Sweets to meet the iconic Sugar Plum Fairy, you’ll make long-lasting holiday memories.
Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour
In 1977, the Friends of Fourth Ward Holiday Home Tour was founded by the Fourth Ward community, who would traditionally visit each other during the holiday season and 40 years later the tour is still a Charlotte holiday staple. The self-guided tour takes you through several, private homes in Fourth Ward that are all spruced up for the season. Throughout the tour you’ll see carolers and handbell ensemble performing on the porches of the Victorian homes and you can end your visit to the Fourth Ward with a carriage ride through the neighborhood.
Carowinds is getting a makeover this holiday season with their all-new seasonal event, WinterFest. The park is being transformed into a winter-wonderland packed with all of the rides, food and performances for a magical holiday experience. At Winterfest you’ll find that 16 of your favorite attractions have also gotten a holiday twist. From chowing down on sweet treats at Candy Cane Cafe to mailing Santa your Christmas wishlist at the North Pole Airmail, this holiday extravaganza is the perfect place to create lasting holiday memories.
Penland Christmas Tree Farm
There’s nothing that will get you more into the holiday spirit like the smell of a freshly chopped down Christmas tree standing in your home. For over 30 years the Penland Christmas Tree Farm has been providing homes all over Charlotte with the finest Christmas trees and at their farm you can browse, pick and cut down your very own Christmas tree. After a day of strolling through the farm, they shake out the old needles and wrap your tree for easy transport home, ready for an evening of ornament hanging.
Holidays at the Hall
Every year the NASCAR Hall of Fame hosts a season long holiday extravaganza, Holidays at the Hall. At Holidays at the Hall you can grab breakfast with Santa, see the annual tree lighting ceremony and of course ice skate at the outdoor rink. Their outdoor ice skating rink is one of the highlights of the Charlotte holiday season and locals line up ready to put on a pair of skates and glide around the ice. After a trip or two around the rink, grab a cup of hot chocolate to warm up with and enjoy a winter stroll through Uptown.
Christmas Town USA
Head west of Charlotte and you’ll find the quaint town of McAdenville, or as it’s better known during the holiday season, Christmas Town USA. Christmas Town USA is one of the top holiday attractions in North Carolina and from December 1st through the 26th the town is lit up with more Christmas lights than the North Pole itself. The town also hosts their own holiday events like, the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Annual Christmas Town Festival and the Yule Log Ceremony. If you are searching for a place that will get you in the holiday spirit, look no further than Christmas Town.
