Step into the Past at the Charlotte Renaissance Festival
Grab your Lord or your Lady and get ready to chow down on turkey legs at the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Located in Huntersville, the Renaissance Festival takes you back to the times of Jesters, Knights and tomato tossings. Browse the marketplace, listen to some traditional tunes or head over to a comedy show, just make sure that you don’t end up the fool.

Get Ready to Party at the Grave Diggers Ball
The annual Kiss 95.1 Grave Diggers Ball is Charlotte’s hottest and largest costume contest. With performances by DJs, various artists and this years headliner, Macklemore, the Grave Diggers Ball turns the Queen City into a Scream City. Get dressed in your best and most creative costumes and head downtown for a Halloween party you won’t ever forget.

Apple Picking at Windy Hill Orchard
Located in York, South Carolina, Windy Hill Orchard is the “Home of Everything Apples” and they aren’t joking. From apple cider donuts, warm apple pies and hard apple cider, you are sure to get your apple fix until next fall. You can even walk around the orchard and pick a few bags or bushels of apples to take back with you. After you’ve taken your fill, grab a dozen of apple cider donuts, a tall glass of their crisp hard cider and take in the beauty of fall.

Say Goodbye to Summer at USNWC
Kick off the fall season at the place you spent all Summer, the Whitewater Center. The USNWC’s Fall Finale wraps up their River Jam concert series with cider samplings, a build-you-own boat competition, an obstacle race through the USNWC trail system and more. Enjoy one last hurrah with a performance by the Eric Gales Band and say goodbye to Summer and hello to fall.

Prepare to be Scared at SCarowinds
Every year during the fall season, Carowinds transforms from your average theme park into a terrifying “scream” park. At SCarowinds you’ll find that 16 of your favorite rides and shows have really gotten into the spirit of Halloween. Explore the haunted streets of Fleet Street or take a seat at E. Baily’s Psycho Circus, just make sure to run from the ghosts and ghouls, because at SCarowinds, there’s nowhere to hide.

Check out the Great Elizabeth Pumpkin Wall
Feast your eyes upon one of the great wonders of Elizabeth, the Great Elizabeth Pumpkin Wall. What is the Great Elizabeth Pumpkin Wall? Well it’s a wall of pumpkins. A week before Halloween a group of local volunteers will set up the wall and then the community of Elizabeth comes together for a pumpkin carving party. Everyone in Charlotte is welcome, just remember to bring your own pumpkin.

Cheer on the Panther’s
Where will you find most Charlotteans during the fall? Tailgating for a Panther’s game of course. Fall in the Queen City is all about the Panther’s and even if you aren’t going to the game, the party rages on at most bars and restaurants all over the city. Pumpkin Picking at Patterson Farm
If you’re the type of person that defines your fall season by going to a pumpkin patch, then head to Mount Ulla, North Carolina and get to pickin’ at Patterson Farm. Patterson Farm has a full line-up of fun fall events for every weekend like, corn mazes, pumpkin picking and more activities for all ages. Their fall weekends will last until October 29th, so make sure to go and grab a pumpkin before all the good ones are gone.

Sip on Local fall Beers
Even local breweries are getting into the fall spirit and adding new seasonal beers to their line-up of brews. Birdsong Brewing is bringing back their sweet potato and clove, St. Tuber Abbey Ale on September 14th and NoDa Brewing Co. already has their Gordgeous Pumpkin Ale on shelves at several bars and restaurants around town. Legion Brewing is getting in on the action with their Oaktoberfest and Sycamore’s Gourd Have Mercy will have you begging for fall to last all year long.

Celebrate Thanksgiving at Novant Health's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a Charlotte tradition since 1947 and is the perfect way to say goodbye to fall and hello to the Holiday season. The parade travels along Tryon Street through Uptown Charlotte and has everything from marching bands to giant floats. This year will be the parades 70th year and will be sure to give Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade a run for their money. If you can’t get to Uptown to see the show, tune in to WBTV to stream the parade online.
